The VA Innovation Center (VIC) focuses on developing and piloting care and payment innovation initiatives authorized by MISSION Act, Sec. 152. All CPI models and VA initiatives will be assessed on their effect on improving access to, and quality, timeliness, and patient satisfaction of care and services while creating cost savings for the Department. All initiatives will utilize internal measurement and evaluation services to analyze the quality, access to care furnished, and the changes in spending attributable to the model. These methods will use randomized controlled trial when feasible and utilizes reliable data sources and metrics to identify causal inferences in the models tested.
